September Board Minutes – approved.

Membership – K. Miller.  To date – 360 Regular members, 154 Associates.  We are under our forecasted 2017 membership goal by -17 Regular / -6 Associates.  SCGA Membership drive continues to bring in Associate members.  The SCGA website will begin online Club membership renewal registration, including BMGC.  The SCGA online Membership website will be rolling renewals, meaning annual membership will be effective at the time of renewal signup.  This may cause issues for BMGC at the beginning of the year and our revenue intake will be spread out over the course of the year, not at the beginning of the year.  It was decided in our best interest to continue with LA Golf’s existing online renewal system.  So we will have an SCGA and an LA Golf renewal signup capability.

Associate member benefits will now include: Associates can sign up for one regular BMGC tournament, a Roger Dunn discount card, discount green fee card for $20, Associates can convert into a regular membership, no voting privileges and cannot be a BMGC Board member.

Randy then proposed that he and Ken Miller send a letter / email to these specific 22 members requesting that their balances be used up or reduced as soon as possible.  We assured Tim that we will work with him on bringing the overall BMGC “scripts” balance down to a manageable level.

A motion was made by Ed Kelly to revise the BMGC By-Laws to amend the requirement for four Regular membership meetings per year.  Attendance has been minimal due to the BMGC website becoming the main source of club member communications and Tournament sign-up capability.  After a discussion a revised motion was made by Art Longoria and then seconded by several Board members, to amend the BMGC By-Laws to “eliminate the 4 annual meeting requirement and replace it with wording that states the BMGC Regular membership meetings will be scheduled at the discretion of the Board”.  The motion was passed unanimously with one abstention.

March Board Minutes – approved, unanimous.

Treasurer’s Report – Income is down year to date – $4.1k which is a concern. Expenses were discussed and no one item is over budget. We are managing line items expenses well but need to look at ways to increase revenue. With a $7.5k budget deficit plus $4.1k YTD under revenue we should anticipate a 2015 year end $11.6k deficit. We are short on revenue and while the Club has adequate liquid assets, we can only sustain this trend another 3-4 years.

Membership – K. Miller, 377 regular members / 149 Associates. Budgeted for 390 / 160. We will now offer a $250 entry fee to include registration fee, 2015 & 2016 membership. We should discuss 2016 membership fee level at the Sept Board meeting.

Handicap Committee – S. Rules – G. Baker, The right side of Fairway 18, Course #1 has decomposed granite (DG) lined by a wooden border. This wooden border is important because it designates the DG as Ground Under Repair. There are plans to run DG through the 18th fairway, 100 yards or so from the green. This is a path the leads to the Rose Bowl.

Gary Baker - The First Tee has put 44k students through their program. Teaching them Core Values and Life Skills. Two current First Tee of Pasadena students will participate in the Nature Valley Open at Pebble Beach - Lela DeJohn and Mason Chiu. The BMGC Board voted unanimously to donate to Lela and Mason $200 each towards their tournament expenses. We wish them the best of success!

Greens Committee – Randy Gottlieb, Course is in very good shape considering 28% less water used and 36.8% cost savings compared to 2014. The turf removal project was not funded enough to provide for sand. But, additional DG and sand (November) to be filled throughout courses. The Chipping / practice area will be sodded. Treatment for trees project to begin. Aeration of Greens – Course #1 – Sept, Course #2 – Oct. Lakes will be cleaned up. October 10, Rose Bowl Soccer Game, USA vs. Mexico.

CHRISTMAS PARTY PROPOSAL

This is an idea to change the Christmas Party from a Friday Dinner-Dance with awards presentation / gift give-away to a luncheon and awards only, on the first day right after play of the 2-day Christmas Classic.

BROOKSIDE CHRISTMAS CLASSIC

December 12 and 13, 2015

- December 12, Saturday, Course 2, 8:00 a.m., shotgun

- December 13, Sunday, Course 1, 9:00 a.m., straight time

- Lunch and awards presentation will be from 1:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the Mediterranean Room on Saturday, December 12.

- Lunch can be provided by the Club for players and their wives.

- Lunch will cost approximately $25.00 per person.

We can charge each player the regular green fee or add $10.00 per player and the Club will pick up the rest.

- Menu has a lot of options.  We can have ribs/chicken with 3 salads and beans and corn on the cob or it can be changed to fit our budget.

- We now have it reserved for 120 people, which at $25.00 per person would come to $3,000.

- A savings of up to $2,000 for the Club, and more if we add $10.00 to the entry fee.

- If we have 68 players for the event this year, plus wives, we could very well get 100 or more people to attend.
